lyrics and melody written in the mountains of california.
the rain came after a midday lunch and nap. we (jack, evan, and i) made camp to get out of the rain, strapping a tarp to two trees and huddling under. An hour of waiting proved no sign of slowing storm.
So we walked on.
Around six, Blue Skies were coming at us and we were overtook with the warmth that the sun provided, drying our packs and our boots. The rain was lifted and we salvaged the last bits of sun setting.
lyrics
Rain washed down the valley, took me from my family.
Now I walk on and wonder when I"ll feel my mother's arms holding me again.
My girl, she writes me letters. Says she loves me
always and ever.
Now I walk on and sing her name, she's my sweet tea, my Katie Mae.
Warm breeze wakes me up early. Sings me a mountain melody.
California, I wish you well.
Will I return-to-ya? Only time will tell.
